Lenovo ThinkPad X120e Review, Specs and Cost

Lenovo ThinkPad X120e

Lenovo ThinkPad ultraportable X120e calling - and its new AMD Fusion, of course, bring a laptop with much better performance than netbooks are made in the past. But not as fast as the average Intel processor-based ultra-portable. Lenovo has done a great job, giving the sensation of a full-size keyboard, but the resolution 1366 x 768, 11.6 inch screen suffers from a 12 - and 13-inch screens of other ultraportable laptops. Given the choice between characterizing the X120e as the very low power consumption, and as a wonderful netbook, I will be with him.

Lenovo is the king of the keyboard, and the X120e has the best netbook keyboard is all - there's nothing closer. The feeling is beautiful, with none of the finger scrunching common to the breed. The touchpad is easy to use and big fans of the old school and Lenovo is pleased to know that the company includes a TrackPoint cursor Eraserhead.

ThinkPad X120e comes in various configurations, from $ 399 E-250 Fusion processor, 2GB of RAM and 250GB 5400 rpm drives hard. Our test system was equipped with a slightly faster X120e, E-350 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 300 GB, 7200 RPM. These components are closely X120e is a WorldBench 6 of 57 - much higher than the traditional brand netbooks tend to be, but smaller than a traditional ultraportable will rise. The largest configuration of our review unit price increased to $ 650 - pretty steep for a netbook.

Video Performance Fusion CPU / GPU ranges from excellent to poor. With codecs supported by the graphics hardware (Radeon HD 6310), provides smooth 1080p video playback. With codecs handled by a processor, however, is limited to 720p, and even then, sometimes reading is not as easy as we would like. The frame rate approached to play the game, falling just under 30 frames per second in Unreal Tournament to medium resolution 800,600. It is tempting, miss, but not always. Simple games better.

X120e netbook has three USB 2.0 standard, but users will appreciate that Lenovo includes VGA and HDMI video. Ethernet supports data rates of gigabits, you get Bluetooth on board, and you can choose between the Wireless-B / G / N and A / B / G / N.

The device is slightly larger than the average netbook, 11.1 inches wide by 7.45 inches (about 0.75 inches added to the battery of six cells), and 1.16 cm thick. In addition, the slightly heavier at 2.93 kg and 3.31 kg (when equipped with three cell or six-cell battery, respectively). Our six-cell configuration of the test device is powered by a battery of about 5.5 hours - impressive for a long time, considering the performance.

Systems we tested came loaded with Windows 7 Professional, but you can choose Home Premium 32-bit or 64 bit, if you prefer. Office 2010 Starter on board, and Norton Internet Security available for installation.

Lenovo's marketing preferences aside, is not an ultraportable X120e: its screen is too small, and its performance is very slow. We're not even sure why the company match against the ultra-high quality. However, the best netbook X120e goes. While writing sessions a little more expensive to convince you that the initial price of $ 450 for this model is more than worth it.

  1. Thanks a lot, worked like magic!
Before I was using like 3.5 GB of ram when going to hibernate,
on resuming, the system would return with only 1.8 GB loaded,
and i couldn't use anything from the loaded session.
Now I can work right away :) like it's supposed to be.
THANK YOU for nerve and time saving.
